A Bronx Tale

As much as I’ve built my reputation working with the famous I take a lot of joy shooting with regular folks; making an effective portrait with a real person is more difficult for me so a success here is especially celebrated.

This is the fascinating story of how the city of New York is giving priority to those previously charged with weed-related offenses. We set up in the office of The Bronx Defenders, a state sponsored (but independently run) organization, where we photographed over a dozen applicants for dispensary licenses.

One thing that made this assignment satisfying is that New York Magazine photo team, Jody Quon and Megan Paetzhold, encouraged us to make them dynamic and visually stunning.
