Quentin Tarantino 1992

On this day in 1992 Reservoir Dogs was released.

When I met Quentin Tarantino three months before he was a fast-talking kid bouncing off the walls with energy, and full of opinions on movies and culture.

We met up at his friend's apt in the East Village, but he agreed to take a car to my apt/studio in Williamsburg. Brooklyn is now a cultural center but in those days it took some persuasive talk to convince a subject to cross the bridge for a photo shoot.

This was my first assignment for Premiere magazine and was slated to be a quarter page placement, but I shot it like it was a three-page story! The goal was to have them wish they had more space and hire me for a feature next time!

We used my studio as a home base but shot on the roof in the rain, and the adjacent spaces. What struck me was not just his excitement for his film, but his childlike enthusiasm for the whole process.

When the movie came out and was a sensation, I was so glad that he had worn the iconic suit for our sitting.
