Happy Birthday Michelle Golden!
During this 30 days for 30 years marathon what could be more fitting than a birthday tribute to my wife of 12 years Michelle Golden. We met in June of 2002 and have been together ever since. She is a smart complex woman who is always a pleasure to be around, and I’m still in love with her like the day we got married.
When I return home from shoots she is the best audience for the crazy on-set stories, and she’s the first to get a peek at some of the outstanding shots of the day. She’s a great critic too, in the positive sense, with a strong intuitive sense for both images and words. Michelle has also contributed to UNEASY in important indirect ways, encouraging me to take assignments even when they affected our family plans: I’ve moved vacations and missed birthdays and multiple holiday dinners.
But it’s her work and career that are really impressive. We met when she worked as a writer and editor at Photo District News but soon after she moved onto Zagat, where she excelled quickly, and now she’s going deep at Google, focusing primarily on Maps. She’s a super success and I’m very proud of her.
Happy Birthday Michelle!
